Community Needs Survey

In 2014, the Syracuse University Environmental Finance Center (SU-EFC) conducted a survey and analysis for local DPW superintendents, planning and zoning board members, town clerks, town supervisors, and village mayors. The survey assessed the level of awareness and understanding across New York State regarding various topics of local/rural governance, including agricultural districts, land-use planning, smart growth, stormwater management, water infrastructure, and associated available resources and tools. The information provided by the survey results is important in shaping the development of relevant and appropriate resources for New York’s rural municipalities through EFC’s Public Management and Finance Program (PMFP). Results from the survey were distributed to various technical service providers and agencies to guide their future municipal training and assistance initiatives.
