  • Installed 800 gallon water tank to harvest rainwater

Project: “Education Policy Implementation, Reduction and Elimination of Plastic Bottles Beverage sale, and Polystyrene and Plastic Bag Usage in the Mayagüez Campus of the UPR”
Amount Awarded: $5,000 over one year

  • Installed two drinking fountains with water bottle refill stations in two main campus locations
  • Installed signs to call attention to existing drinking fountains, including braille tags for those with vision impairment
  • Offered reusable stainless steel cups in dining halls to discourage the use of disposable foam and plastic cups
  • Printed brochures, signs, and posters to educate students on new initiatives
