On November 15, 2014, the New York State Association for Reduction, Reuse, and Recycling (NYSAR3), in collaboration with the Council for Textile Recycling (CTR) and the Secondary Materials and Recycled Textiles Association (SMART), launched the statewide textile recovery campaign titled, “ReClothe NY.” The goal of the campaign is to reduce the amount of textiles in the waste stream by educating New York State residents about the reuse/recylability of various textiles and how and where to recycle them.
The Syracuse University Environmental Finance Center (SU-EFC) is assisting in this effort by sharing staff resources and co-facilitating an annual Statewide Textile Recovery Stakeholders Summit. The summit draws representatives from municipalities, charities, the recycling industry, and other professionals to share perspectives and strategies to move the campaign forward.
