Audience: Trainings are for drinking water systems serving 10,000 or fewer customers, water system managers, municipal decision makers, elected officials, town managers, and mayors. These programs are being offered through Smart Management for Small Water Systems, a program of the Environmental Finance Center Network (EFCN), which consists of the Environmental Finance Center at Syracuse University and nine other EFC's nationwide. This program is made possible under a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Green infrastructure (GI) for stormwater management offers a sustainable and efficient approach for managing stormwater runoff and protecting water quality. This conference will provide an introduction to basic concepts and examples of GI, presentations about demonstration project in Newburgh and elsewhere in the region, and discussion about resources and next steps.

The National Urban and Community Forestry Advisory Council seeks innovative (new, cutting-edge or builds upon existing studies) grant proposals for program development, study, and collaboration that will address strategies in the Ten Year Action Plan.Specifically for this Request for Proposals, the Council is considering proposals to address the following priority issues: Making Urban Trees and Forests More Resilient to the Impacts of Natural Disasters and the long-term Impacts of Climate Change; Green Infrastructure Jobs Analysis; Utilizing Green Infrastructure to Manage and Mitigate Stormwater to Improve Water Quality Organizations

Amount: $250,000 total available funding
Deadline: Pre-proposal due May 10, 2013
Eligible Applicants: Applications are requested from eligible governmental or non-governmental organizations or individuals for competitive consideration of grant awards for projects between 1 and 3 years in duration.

Transformation Initiative: Sustainable Communities Research Grant program
The purpose of theFY13 Sustainable Communities Research Grant Program (SCRGP) is to fill key data and information gaps, and to begin to develop and evaluate policy alternatives that communities can adopt to facilitate decision making about various community investments in sustainability initiatives. For this round of sustainability research grants, HUD is primarily interested in sponsoring cutting edge research in quality, equitable affordable housing development and preservation; transportation and infrastructure planning; and "green," energy-efficient practices.
Funding Agency: US Department of Housing and Urban Development Amount: Awards range between $75,000 and 125,000 Deadline: May 29, 2013 Eligible Applicants: Nationally recognized and accredited institutions of higher education; non-profit foundations, think tanks, research consortia or policy institutes, and for-profit organizations located in the U.S that employ or contract with the sponsored researcher are eligible applicants.

Located at the SyracuseCoE Center for Sustainable Community Solutions, EFC enhances the administrative and financial capacities of state and local government officials, nonprofit organizations, and private sectors to make change toward improved environmental infrastructure and quality of life.
