Preliminary results of a collaborative constructed wetlands water quality research project were presented at NYWEA’s 85th Annual Meeting & Exhibition, receiving second place in a poster competition. The project focuses on Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO) wastewater management using constructed wetlands. This research, which demonstrates the potential for improved water quality using agricultural best management practices, was presented by Syracuse University student Gerardo Martinez. Project partners include Syracuse EFC, SyracuseCoE, Madison County Soil and Water Conservation District, USDA-Rural Development, SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry and the Center for Environmental Systems Engineering.
